Ah, April in Paris! How I miss it. Glad you had good weather and warm experiences. And I'm jealous. Thanks for your colorful descriptions. Right on!

I loved reading about Paris - your descriptions painted the picture exactly as I remember. Haven't been in a few years and miss the beauty and excitement. We were winter visitors, but you make April sound pretty tempting------------hmmmm.

Paul,
Merci Beaucoup, mon ami.
Your writing, like fine wine, improves with age! Thanks for reminding me of my trips to Paris and for the statement negating the "negative" attitude about the French. I found them to be warm, welcoming and wonderful as well.

What a marvelous travelogue! Reading your story reminded me of my first trip to Paris (May 2006). Expecting boorishness (I enjoyed your allusion to the Italian ministry of tourism), I was surprised at how open and friendly Parisians really are. (Of course, it helped to supplement my miserable francaise with a healthy dose of italiano - my attempts to speak something other than English were always well received.)

The Metro was shockingly clean and efficient, and the boulangeries (particularly in Marais and Montmartre), ouh la`!! Your wonderful description brought it all back in spades...and I hope to return this October.
Les crêpes châtaignes (chestnut crepes) are delicious...a fall specialty. When it comes to food and wine, what could be better than France...unless it happens to be Italy? :-))
