The 48th Annual Friends Used Book Fair attracted hundreds of book lovers and bargain hunters at the Saturday July 11 event held in front of the Friends Meeting House on Main Road. Over 30,000 hardcover and paperback books were donated to the book fair. Volunteers began sorting, cataloguing, and pricing books last fall. “Books for next year began coming in today. We sort, price, and store books from September till just before the book fair,” Meeting Treasurer Deana Chase said as she surveyed the lines circulating around the 80 book-crammed tables under two huge yellow and white striped tents. The proceeds are used to maintain the Quaker property on Main Road and are used for “Benevolences ” - local causes or Quaker causes chosen by a committee.
