Dancing in the dust was never more fun than this.
Whether you're holding on to your partner or your drink, you're having fun.
"Antoine Melancon is one of the most sought after dancers around here," says the woman in white (photo above on left) as she makes a bee line for him right after that dance. Antoine lives in nearby St. Martinville and keeps the beat with his feet better than any guy around.
There were lots of children on, or in some cases, above, the dance "floor".
My first dance with a desperado! Susan's not robbing a bank, just keeping the dust at bay.
It's hard to sit still in any music festival around here. I am dancing by myself next to my friends Bernard and Rubia (who took the photos) when this young lady stands up from her chair and declares, "I don't know how to dance, but..." and holds her arms out to me. "You're dancing with Whitney, a Creole girl from Thibodaux," she says with a grin. We do just fine.
