FULL REVIEW LATER THIS WEEK!
I just returned from a press opening for Rich Girl...really strong production, loved it. Good story, well told, powerfully acted and directed. I'll put together a review later this week that says so...
Playwright Victoria Stewart does a fine job of recasting this drama/comedy, based on "Washington Square" written by Henry James in 1880, made into "The Heiress," a film in 1949 with box office stars of the era...women, men, money, love... there's a volatile combination for you.
Stewart changed father/daughter relationship in the original to a mother/daughter relationship and this mother/daughter pulls it off with increasing layers of complexity. The other two roles are strong, one adding a wonderful element of farce, the other, the love interest, kept me guessing till the final moment and then some!… satisfyingly resists the notion of tying it all together in a neat bow.
I love that you are going to see the shows earlier in their run. And that you are posting so quickly. Nice work, PT.
