Our colonialist ways got an early start... invade and proclaim it's yours! My 5th grade teacher bored me when she said, "There is nothing new under the sun." but now I understand from an historical point of view.

Yes, our history with Native Americans is under-reported and under-taught. I remember reading portions of "Mourt’s Relation" (link in story above) by Edward Winslow to my fourth graders to give them context for the first boatload of “Saints” and “Strangers”, and their journey from Leyden, Holland, to England then Provincetown then Plymouth.

Very interesting!

Food for thought!

Thank you for sharing all I can say is WOW! How things get twisted and turned around.

So sad that you do Paul. It really sickens me that so many Americans fee the same. We live in the greatest country ever devised by man. This is a time to celebrate that accomplishment and share it with family and friends. It’s time to be positive. The Native Americans were taken advantage of and were mistreated and did suffer horrendous mistreatment. They were conquered and subjugated. But also, they have the opportunity to join and share in the wealth and prosperity of the United States, yet they chose to remain apart as a people and as tribes.
