Surprise and a sense of joy on the faces citizens from 7 to 70 is a universal response to emotive music...contagious, too. I cheered.
"We will be back."
They intend to come back? Hope? A coping mechanism?
Whatever it is, it's the spirit that we call up every day in the midst of living with the pandemic. Here they are, in living rooms, kitchens, offices, keeping their chops sharp, virtually connecting with their colleagues while their families make dinner and their children dance in the kitchen.
They don't know how or when it will happen.
Not the point. A musician at the 2:16 mark is wearing a surgical mask, playing through the reality of a global pandemic. The point is they intend it to happen.
Lord knows, we all need something to look forward to, even if it will happen in a way we don't yet comprehend.
Embrace uncertainty...and be ready to perform when the time comes!
Great job Paul!

That kind of joy has no shelf life, there are lots to moments of joy, wonder and surprise from at least four generations of Spaniards!

Yes indeed... the amalgam of music, children and women and men of every age and their reactions, often telegraphed through close ups of their faces, is the informal chorus to the ode.

Hey Louie,
The joy of playing, listening to, dancing to, music is so universal. The videos are a pale substitute for the live versions that we miss so dearly. In the meantime, I celebrate by having a fabulous virtual dance with you in an Ode to Joy Cajun/Creole style!

Abigail~
Thanks for the comment. We knew how much music contributed to our lives before the pandemic…and miss it deeply since the pandemic began. I feel for the Cajun and Creole musicians who are out of circulation, miss the dancing and socializing, so special always in SW Louisiana.
