Midnight - Mars rising as I head down Oliver Street. I never know what might be revealed on the ground during a Ramble. Overhead, I can count on bright Jupiter, as close to a neon sign you'll ever see, dominating the cosmos, along with Saturn, the Big and Little Dippers, Polaris, and a host of constellations that became more visible after Covid-19 closed the state down and emissions from automobiles cleared away.
Tonight's Ramble has a target - drop off my Water/Sewer quarterly payment, due today, into a drop-box next to Town Hall.
Pieces of Watertown history are abundant on the way to Town Hall.
Even before Covid-19, death can visit suddenly as it did with this beloved 20-year veteran of the Watertown Fire Department. Cemeteries aren't the only place to memorialize the departed.https://patch.com/massachusetts/watertown/2-alarm-fire-watertown
On Main Street Rt 20, a virtual gravestone...
reminds citizens and firemen alike that the call of civic duty has hazards...
that need to be acknowledged.
